When Marie Holmes won a $188 million lottery jackpot she immediately declared that she intends to give a tenth of her winnings to charity. It seems like she is busy living up to her word.
Holmes recently set up the Marie Holmes Foundation with a $9.7 million investment. Her latest donation was a check for $680,000 made to the order of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Shallotte. Five generations of her family have worship there and have been recipient of the church’s generosity; now it is her turn to give back.
