A group of workers for the Electric Boat contractors in Groton,  Connecticut, have won a $1 million Powerball jackpot.  The syndicate group managed to turn a $2 Powerball quick pick entry for the August 7 draw into a win worth $29,69, after taxes, for each of their members.

Anne M. Noble, President and CEO of the Connecticut Lottery later presented the group with a large ceremonial check for a million dollars.  The group has been playfully given the name ‘Lucky 23’, which was what was written in their ceremonial check.

The beaming winners are now contemplating how they will spend their portion of the jackpot.  While the amount is not really life-changing, it would make for a very early Christmas gift for each of them.
