Arizona Glitch

When lottery games are hit with technical glitches, it can be costly for the operator. Such is the case with the Arizona lottery these days as it has been hit with the problem of duplicate winning numbers from supposedly random number generators.

The machine produced the same winning numbers in multiple drawings for four different games. Affected games include the All or Nothing, Pick 3, 5 Card Cash, and Fantasy 5. The machine in question has been pulled out of service while the incidents are being investigated.

The good news for bettors is that if they picked the winning numbers their tickets will be honored. In addition, the lottery will replace or refund non-winning tickets for the affected draws. The move is costly for the lottery but a spokesman said they owe it to their “incredible players.”
