Fake Ticket Leads To Woman’s Arrest

A chili trader from Thailand’s Kalasin province has been arrested after putting in a claim for a 2 million baht first prize using a forged ticket.  The official who examined the ticket found the winning number pasted over the actual numbers on the ticket.

Thawee Sawanate, however, claims that she had merely been deceived by a ticket seller.  She told police that an unknown vendor who had only two tickets left managed to convince her to buy  one of the tickets for the October 1 draw for 110 baht.  She further states that she had no idea that the ticket was forged.

The woman has been charged with forgery and use of a fake document.  She faces was six months to five years in prison and/or a fine of 1,000 to 10,000 baht if convicted.
