A lottery syndicate composed of a man from Co Offaly, his aunt, his uncle, and two cousins have won a €500000 prize after buying just their first Euromillions ticket.
The group had won €6 from a scratch card earlier but decided it was too small to divide among them. So the group decided to use the money to buy a €6 quick pick from the Euromillions. The ticket later won the top prize in the Plus draw!
€500000 is no longer too small to share so the syndicate members have no complaints. The group has requested to be allowed to remain anonymous – something which is allowed (and a good idea) under the games rules.
