In Vestal a supermarket owner just became Broome County’s first millionaire of 2011.
He bought his scratch off instant ticket for the ‘$500,000,000 Extravaganza’ at Wegmans in Johnson City. He will be presented with his big check for $2 Million at the store on Thursday at 11am.
This area is not short of big winners either.
Floyd ‘Vic’ Hooker from Owego won $45 million on the lottery in 1999 – which at the time was the largest prize in state history. Margo Turner, Newark Valley hit $1 million on a scratch-off game in 2008. In Norwich, Diane Scheer won $1,000 per week for life the same year. Whilst Diane Vaughn from Endicott won $5,000 a week for life in 2007.
