The syndicate of 25 people from a Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealers in Gateshead normally only play the Friday draw.

But this week they decided to use their £16 win from the previous Friday, 29th July, to buy 8 lucky dips in the Tuesday EuroMillions draw. Normally they just split the small wins between them, but decided to give the very next Tuesday draw a go.

And it turned out to be a particularly good decision, as one of their lucky dips matched the 5 main EuroMillions numbers. The group just turned their £16 win into £54,777.30.

The syndicate manager, Christine Cameron, says the syndicate has been running for just 2 years. The 25 members all put in £2 each every week, and they buy 25 quick pick tickets for the Friday draw.

We don’t usually play on a Tuesday so we feel especially lucky. Everyone huddled around my computer in complete disbelief.

They weren’t sure that it wasn’t a clever wind up by one of the team – so they jumped in a van and headed off to the local Sainsbury store to get them to check the numbers.

Sure enough, the assistant confirmed they had won and needed to contact Camelot as the amount was too big for the store to pay directly.

The win won’t be changing their lives greatly though as they will each receive £2,191.09 after the share out. But it hasn’t stopped them making a few shopping lists anyway.
