Lottery officials in Georgia have announced that a winner has come forward with a claim to half of a $636 million Megamillions jackpot.  The winner was identified a Ira Curry of Stone Mountain, Georgia, who used a number combination that contained family birthdays and her lucky number seven.

Curry, who bought her ticket at Gateway Newstand could choose to receive the full amount of $318 million, but plans to opt for a one time payment of $123 million net of taxes.

The jackpot’s rise can be attributed to a change in rules which made it harder to win the jackpot but increased the prize amounts, increase in sales due to a price increase implemented by rival Powerball lottery, and 22 consecutive draws without a winner.
