Scratching instant tickets on the way to work can pay big dividends. Just ask James Schiebel, of Butler, Pennsylvania. His decision to stop and buy an instant ticket at a 7-11 convenience store in Evans City while traveling to his workplace made him $1 million richer.
Incredibly, Scheibel says he only buys one $20 ticket each year. And his decision to buy the winning “Merry Millionaire” instant ticket in December was because he was convinced the ticket was a winner. Subsequent events proved his hunch was right.
Now Schiebel wants to take wife Marcella on a honeymoon in the Carribean that they couldn’t afford before. And he has not had reason to scrimp on home heating since his win.
