Jim Pollock left his job with Rempel Bros. Concrete over 3 years ago. But he made sure he kept paying his dues to the work lottery pool to this day.

Which turned out to be one the best decisions Jim ever made, when the lottery pool of 22 hit the jackpot with Canada’s 649 Lottery on 31 August. They collect a lump sum payment of $3,295,027.

Their work lottery pool had been playing the same numbers for 10 straight years, but Jim says it was still a great shock when he heard of their win:

You always buy tickets thinking that you’re going to win, but you’re never prepared to win.

After the share out each member will receive $149,773.95. Jim plans to spend some of his share on fulfilling a dream to see Jimmy Buffet in Vegas, as well as finish off the home that he has been buildling with his wife Kelly.

And their four children will also find themselves on the treat list. With downpayments for homes and college funds high on the list.

The winning numbers for the 649 Lottery for 31 August 2011 were 12, 15, 18, 29, 33 and 46.
