Missouri Lawmaker Wants Lotto Winners’ Privacy Protected

It seems like the size of the new Powerball record jackpot has caused people to seek ways for lottery winners to legally choose to remain anonymous.  Now a Missouri lawmaker has filed a proposal to change laws requiring disclosure.

A bill filed by a lawmaker from Missouri aims to change the laws so that lottery winners’ names and addresses may only be published with their written consent.  There have been similar bills filed before which the lottery had opposed mainly because getting winners’ details published tend to show transparency and prove the integrity of the games.  Lottery players in the state are watching the deliberations carefully.
