Morris Settle was a landscape gardener from Lexington.

Now he’s a very lucky Lexington landscaper, as he just won the $1 Million top prize in the Cash Spectacular’ instant scratch off game from the North Carolina Education Lottery.

The $1 Million prize will actually be paid as an annuity of $50,000 a year for the next 20 years. Morris just received his first payment on Thursday, which after taxes gave him $34,000. He was fairly pleased:

I felt like, ‘Wow, I guess it can happen’. Sometimes you win $10. Sometimes you win $20. It was almost too good to be true.

Morris plans to clear some outstanding bills, and possibly take a nice vacation in Myrtle Beach – where he can then start thinking about what to spend the next 19 years money on.

He bought his winning scratch off ticket from the ‘Gas N Go’ at Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem.
