The lottery helped fund the GB Team for the Rio Olympics. Now that the team has brought back 67 medals, the lottery is honoring them by giving away 67 extra prizes.
The National Lottery announced that they are giving away 27 extra million pound prizes in honor of the 27 gold medal haul of the British team. There will also be 23 additional prizes of £100,000 and 17 prizes of £50,000. Aside from honoring the national athletes’ success the extra prizes are also meant to show appreciation for the support provided by lottery players.
