The cost of entries to the National Lottery will double from its current, £1 to £2 in September.
While the lotto says the change is a result of a survey indicating most players want more chances to win big money, after the change, jackpots will be bigger but some of the payouts will be even lower than it is now.
Critics argue that this may be a form of stealth tax and they figure only the government will benefit with an anticipated increase in tax revenue from the price increase
