Carroll Sears, who works as a customer service specialist for a Wilmington retailer, buys $12 worth of Cash 5 tickets each week, hoping one of these days he would win the jackpot. And when that day came when one of his tickets matched all five numbers drawn, it just so happened that the jackpot was much more than the minimum amount of $50,000. The $357,664 he won in Saturday’s draw made him instantly $243,312 richer, after taxes were deducted.
Now Sears says his priority is to pay off debts and clear mortgages. Then he wants to do something for his wife, maybe a trip somewhere she wants to go.
Sears had bought the winning ticket from the Masonboro Country Store on Masonboro Loop Road.
