Giuseppe “Joe” Garofalo of Tinton Falls, New Jersey has just claimed his half of a huge $198 million Mega Millions jackpot from the May 17 draw. He shares the prize with a winner from Virginia.
Lottery officials are happy that Joe did everything correctly – signing the back of the ticket & keeping it in a safe place, then coming forward to claim the prize only when he was good and ready.
Joe chose to receive his prize in a single payment of $73,279,052 before taxes. Joe is still not sure what he wants to do will all that money, but there isn’t a lack of options.
