Olympic Lottery Funding Gives Team GB The Edge

The Olympics is costing the UK around £9.3 BILLION, of which £2.2bn has actually been provided by UK Lottery funding.

Whilst that may seem an incredible sum of money, the UK is actually set to benefit economically in excess of £10bn as a result of hosting the games.

The vast majority of the lottery funding, and the rest of the budget, will go towards infrastructure and running the event. But £500 Million of that lottery funding has gone directly into the UK’s Olympic squad, or ‘Team GB’.

So it will be interesting to see how the UK fares in the 2012 Olympics. Will they beat the 19 Golds they claimed in Beijing?
