Of Lottery Winners, Greed, And New Beginnings

Last month we followed the story of Andy Ashkar, a former convenience store worker, who was ultimately convicted of stealing a $5 million scratch-off lottery ticket from a customer.

There are threats to boycott the National Lottery when its price increases from £1 to £2 starting on the October 5 draw.  Accusations have come from diverse groups that the price increase is only meant to generate bigger profits for lottery operators Camelot. 

Connie Baumer has been a member of a Powerball betting syndicate made up of emergency room staff at the St. John’s Medical Center in  Jackson, Wyoming for just a few weeks.

Gov. Tom Corbett’s administration seems intent of giving every chance for lottery operators Camelot to obtain the management contract for the Pennsylvania Lottery.  And Camelot Global Services has reportedly agreed to extend its bid, which was set to expire July 31, to a new deadline of August 30.
