Nobody has ever won the top prize in New York Lottery’s $10,000,000 instant ticket game – until now, that is! James and Sylvia Silverence have just made history be winning the top prize which is the largest ever won in a scratch off game in New York State.
A regular lotto player, James Silverence had accumulated $125 worth of winning tickets. He went to the Stewart’s on Vassar Road in Poughkeepsie, intending to cash in his tickets. But while at the store, he watched the person ahead of him buy four $10,000,000 cash tickets, which all failed to win anything. Seeing there were just six left, he bought them all and asked his wife Sylvia to scratch them off.
When the word jackpot was revealed both began screaming. They later opted to split the winnings so that each take home $3,309,000 net of taxes. Paying off college tuition for their sons, a new truck and some jewelry are in their plans.
