Even in lottery play, persistence pays off.  Raeford resident Dorothy Myers $3 Powerball ticket gave her financial independence in the 4th of July draw.  Myers who has been playing the lottery since it was first introduced in the state finally won big time to the tune of $2 million.

She had her husband buy the ticket with her usual numbers while they were out visiting relatives over the holiday.  She has since received a check for $1,385,000 net of local and federal taxes.  Now she wants to buy her husband an RV, set aside funds for their grandchildren’s education, and to go traveling.
