Thirty-six members of an Irish lottery syndicate composed mainly of workers from medical device manufacturing company VistaMed are going to have a very early Christmas bonus.  The syndicate, headed by Allen Hogan has just scooped a €2 million lottery jackpot on the Irish Lotto.

Allen bought the winning ticket in Swanlinbar, Co Cavan, last Friday.  By Sunday, he was well aware that his syndicate had won a big jackpot.  He rang up member Bernard Battles for help in verifying the numbers.

The group then all traveled to Belfast to claim the prize which would give each member €55,555.55.  Surprisingly, their boss did not resent so many of his workers out of work on the same day, and even paid for the coach that took his employees to Belfast.

The win appears to be a result of the syndicate’s persistence.  They had been betting for five years and have only a €100 win to show for it, before this big jackpot.
