A Canadian couple just beat odds of 1 in 28.6 million to win a Lotto Max jackpot worth all of $26,037,102.70!
The winners in the Feb.17 draw are the husband and wife team of Mike and Tricia Montminy of Tilbury. Mike had earlier bought the winning ticket at Mr. Video & Convenience, 37 Queen St. S., in Tilbury, where he’s a regular. Then he checked the numbers the next day as he was on his way to work as a technician at Cottingham Tire – he never got to work that day.
Once he realized he had hit the jackpot, he was so stunned he just stared at his ticket. After that he headed to a Mac’s convenience store’s OLG machine to get his ticket scanned. The lottery called the store immediately after and confirmed the win.
The lottery is still processing and they are not officially declared winners yet, but both husband and wife have tendered their resignations. They say they want to take some time off to think about what they’ll do next.
