A South Ockendon bricklayer has just joined the list of Thurrock’s rich people after winning £256,130.20 from the Euromillions.
But when Colin Hopkins sat down for his usual morning cup of tea, he never imagined his life would change so drastically. When he discovered his win, he just sat stunned for a long time trying to take it all in. Right then and there he decided to wait till his two daughters came home before sharing the good news.
Daughters, Carlie who works as a pre-school teacher and care worker Jamie were very happy when told he had won £6,000. When he revealed it was £250,000 actually more, they were ecstatic.
Since they have been renting their home, they now want to buy one of their own. But they’ve already done a bit of shopping in the meantime.
Colin says he will continue to buy tickets. He is right – statistically, even if he has already won, he has the same chance of winning as everyone else in future draws.
