Irish lottery players are in for a parcel of service improvements this Christmas season as the new operator Premier Lotteries Ireland (PLI) officially takes over operations.  Among the improvements are: the installation of 4,000 new terminals across the retail network, new optical reading technology which is expected to speed up sales, and allowing retail outlets to pay-out up to €2,500 without recourse to the National Lottery headquarters.  The new tickets dispensed by the new machines will be green in color.

New machines will be used side by side with the existing ones during the transition period.
