When Paul and Sue Rosenau won a Powerball jackpot worth $180 million back in 04 May 2008, they knew what they had to do. After they received a one time payment of $44 million net of taxes, they used $26.4 million to establish The Legacy of Angels Foundation dedicated to finding a cure for Krabbe disease which claimed the life of their grandchild five years earlier.
More than $10 million has been given to a number of researchers, which has resulted in a number of advanced treatment techniques which are under study. They live to see the day when the research they helped fund gives Krabbe disease patients hope.
