A NY cop found that the secret to winning big in the lottery is to follow his wife’s orders; sort of.
Back in January when the Powerball Lottery’s jackpot had rolled over to a huge $1.6 billion, Vito Viola’s wife asked him to buy Powerball tickets. After he bought the Powerball entries, he found an extra dollar and decided to spend it on a quick pick Mega Millions ticket. It was that ticket which won a huge $169 million jackpot.
The happy couple have accepted a single payment of about $65 million net of all taxes in lieu of the full amount over time. He has resigned from the force and have just collected their prize six months after the win.
