Two years after winning £1.1m from the lottery two years ago Alun Jones has given back in a big way, although not in anything financial this time.
Jones was jogging when he noticed an old man who had fallen into a freezing canal. Jones immediately pulled him up and got him home. It was discovered later the man, Neville Tyldesley, who had dementia and was blind, was mistakenly sent home in a taxi from the hospital and then fell into the canal.
Jones does not consider himself lucky for winning the lottery but says luck must have played a part in his rescue of Tyldesley because he almost missed his regular jog.
