A retired engineer has posted the biggest Mega Millions win in the state of Vermont.  Reg Abare, who worked as engineering director for the city of Barre for 45 years won a cool $5 million.

The winner says he is a regular player who buys three tickets from the Brookside Country Store twice a week.  His purchase on the 16th of August proved lucky.  He’s even more lucky because he paid a dollar for the multiplier option which turned a $1 million second prize win into $5 million.

Since he is retired, Abare wants to invest most of his winnings and use some for home improvements.
