A woman waited six days before asking a work colleague to check her ticket on their store’s machine.  Ann Irving, who works as a shop assistant for The Cooperative store in Ryton, Gateshead, was most surprised to win a £52,294.90 jackpot off a lucky dip Euromillions lottery ticket.  A call to the lottery offices confirmed it.

In her excitement, her first thought was to store the ticket in her locker till the end of her shift.  She was advised against it so she called her husband David who quickly came to their shop, collected the ticket, then stored it at their home safe.

They later celebrated over a bottle of wine and decided that their first purchase will be a new car, then perhaps a vacation or two.
