Wales is preparing to launch its own lottery next year.

The lottery project will be developed by a Cardiff based non-profit making community interest company called Wil Enterprises.  It is projected that the first draw of the Wales lottery will happen sometime in the second half of 2017.  People will be able to buy tickets online and there are plans to have the draws shown on TV.  Plans are to have each draw shown live via  S4C’s TV and online channels.

The lottery project will be established to benefit local charities and grassroots community causes all over Wales.  For this reason, a charitable fund is also being established to handle the distribution of lottery earnings to community projects throughout Wales.

David Ward Walton, the head of Wil Enterprises, says he expects the lottery to have broad support from Welsh lottery players as it is meant to benefit local community charities.  He says people can expect more updates in the coming months.
