Rakel Daniele in Fort Lee, New Jersey was excited to see her lottery numbers had come up.

The excitement quickly faded however when she discovered the $250,000 she thought she had won, was actually a broadcasting mistake!

Apparently the New York ABC station broadcast the winning Mega Millions numbers for 19th June 2009 as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and a Mega Ball of 12.

Rakel had picked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and a Mega Ball of 6.

But the actual winning numbers were 9, 12, 16 and 46 and a Mega Ball of 44, leaving her without any prize at all.

She is now seeking damages from the broadcasters for $75,000.

The lawsuit also claims that ABC went on to broadcast the wrong numbers again the next day.

Neither Rakel’s lawyer nor ABC would provide any comment on the ongoing case.
