DDoS attack Halts Irish Lottery Ticket Sales For 2 Hours

Ireland’s National Lottery reported that its website and its ticket machines came under a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, which caused ticket sales to be halted for 2 hours.  To compound matters, there was an increased interest in the lottery due to an unusually high jackpot estimated at €12m (£9m).

Lottery officials say no player information was compromised even as they continue to investigate the source of the attack.
