Florida Lottery Suspends Sales At 14 Stores

After the Palm Beach Post published an article about startling patterns of winners, the Florida Lottery responded by suspending ticket sales at a total now of 14 stores.

And the winning patterns uncovered by the Post’s investigations really stretch the limits of credulity.  One couple who have owned and operated various stores around Gainesville was found to have claimed 226 prizes since 2005 totalling more than $560,000 in prizes. Many other outlet owners are on record as having won again and again.

The most prolific of the winners profiled was found to have been cashing a prize every eleven days for many years.  One prolific winner claimed to be cashing in tickets for different people over a period of years – an illegal act punishable by up to a year in jail.

The Florida Lottery said in a statement that it will not tolerate fraud in its outlets;  their actions seem to prove that.
