A former sheriff from West Virginia, who was blessed with a fortune from a lottery win, continues to make charitable contributions to his community.  The latest project to be helped by his generosity is the new $2.3 million W. Randy Smith Recreation Center in Inwood community.

Randy Smith had put up almost all of the funds required for the center that bears his name, by way of a $2.1 million donation to the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation.

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation Director Steve Catlett had earlier convinced Smith to help fund a new center, as their existing one is no longer big enough.  The new center is only the latest among the charitable projects helped by Smith in the past two years.
