When people get married they dream of starting whole new and beautiful life with their chosen partner. A gift from his parents made a happy new life easier for Delane Emery of Wisconsin and his wife.

Newlywed Emery’s parents gave him a lottery ticket as part of a lot they bought and distributed as Christmas gifts to their children. In Emery’s case at least, the ticket paid big dividends.  His ticket won a $1 million prize in the Minnesota Lottery’s annual Millionaire Raffle game, which is drawn each New Year’s day.

It was his stepmother who called him to ask that he read the numbers of his tickets allowed, and then informed him that he was a millionaire.  He  later collected the prize from the lottery office – a million dollars before taxes. Emery is floored by the good fortune that has come his way and says this will go a long way towards giving him and his new bride a very good start.

The Rock Creek Pit Stop on Hwy. 70 in Pine City sold the winning ticket. One other million-dollar top prize remains unclaimed.
