Lottery players buy tickets in the hopes of landing a big jackpot, yet they are almost always surprised when their ticket finally hands them a life-changing amount.
A couple from New Zealand bought a Powerball ticket from a Countdown supermarket and promptly forgot about it. When it was mentioned during a dinner with friends a week after the draw that the winning ticket was sold at the same store they bought their entry from, the winner said “there’s no way it could be me.”
Good thing they decided to check the ticket upon reaching home. Their ticket matched all the numbers drawn and gave them a $NZ16.2 million prize.
What will they do with all the money? They have had celebratory champagne and will have a nice dinner with family; then they plan to use the rest of their lives figuring what to do with the rest.
