Oregon Undersheriff Wins $5.5 Million

Morrow County undersheriff Sten Myren had never won more than $60.  The odds of winning the top prize is 1 in 6.1 million and he only plays when the jackpot is at least $5 million, so he did not expect much.  That changed after a $1 Oregon’s Game Megabucks ticket won top prize.

Myren is suddenly $5.5 million richer.  But that does not mean he will retire immediately – he still plans to work two more years to his regular retirement date.  He later opted to receive the prize in 25 annual payments of about $130,000.

Myren has since bought a new truck and invested the rest of the money.
