Just a few months from a record powerball jackpot, the prize money is again accumulating and has reached the $400 million level yet again. This is expected to result in frenzied betting by people dreaming of striking it rich.
The new estimated jackpot was announced, as Saturday’s draw did not produce a big prize winner. There were only two $2 million payouts in Florida and Texas, and five $1 million payouts in other states.
The biggest Powerball jackpot ever won was $590.5 million. If there are no big winners, after a few more weeks the prize could approach the same level, but even now at the $400 million level few people can resist the lure of a chance at a jackpot that could set them up for life.
