Retired Couple Claim $213 Million Jackpot

Two weeks after the draw, the winners of a $213 million Powerball jackpot have come forward.  Retired hospital workers Carl and Lulu Mitchell only took their sweet time so they can have the opportunity to think things over carefully.

The couple are wary of the sudden life changes that such wealth brings, which can sometimes turn the blessings of financial strength to what has become known as the “curse of the lottery.”  They may have read of too many previous winners whose lives were ruined, that even now they choose to keep a low profile.

Their neighbors are happy for them and are confident the lucky couple will be able to use the money wisely.  That may be an accurate assessment as the Mitchells have already announced what they want to do:  give to their church, help out family, and buy a new home.
