Big lottery jackpots enable winners to purchase things they never dreamed they could. But that does not mean that their purchases are necessarily sensible – some winners have been known to purchase some rather strange things.
Lottery advisor Kathy Garrett says one of the most common purchases is champagne for celebrations. Stranger purchases include a hoover and a cheese grater. These must be things that people who were financially hard-up before their lottery wins have wanted for a long time. One thing for sure, these winners were able to purchase the things they want most because of the lottery.
