Syndicate Sold Wrong Tickets – But Won £151,000

Andrew Brown was responsible for buying the syndicates lottery tickets that week.

But having got back to work he realised the 40 quick pick tickets he’d been sold were for the wrong day. He wanted tickets for the big Christmas draw, and instead had tickets for the Friday draw before.

He tried to return them and get them changed for the correct date, but the shop wouldn’t reissue the tickets.

Which turned out to be rather fortunate as they won £151,000 in the draw they never meant to enter.

The syndicate of 15 workers at Clifford Thames in Chelmsford didn’t actually find out until early this month when Andrew got round to checking all the tickets!
