A family from New Jersey has just claimed a $429 million Powerball jackpot. The Smiths, made up of a mother and seven adult children, had the only jackpot winning ticket for the draw.
It was the mother, 70-year old Pearlie Mae Smith, who used $6 to buy entries with power play options for the May 4 and May 7 draw. Now the whole family is in celebration mode as the jackpot will net them a cool $204,480,000 as a single payment even after taxes are deducted. Incidentally, the family took their time coming out to consult with financial experts.
