A Virginia woman can count herself doubly lucky after having beaten the deadline for claiming a $100,000 jackpot by mere hours. Karen Gentry had the winning ticket in her kitchen for most of 180 days, with no idea at all she was a big winner.
What prompted her to check on old tickets had been a lottery announcement about unclaimed prizes whose deadlines were almost up. But when she discovered her win, even her husband was initially skeptical. For her part, Karen could not explain how she missed checking that particular ticket, when she had a habit of promptly checking results.
Doubts are now erased, and the prize firmly in her hands. She failed to share how she plans to use the money
