One very lucky woman left the Tops Friendly Market on Niagara Street in Tonawanda with much more money than when she came in.
When Nellida “Nelly” Baez-Alvarado went to the store for mayo, she also bought two Win $1,000 A Week for Life tickets; she won the top $1,000 a week for life prize on the second one she scratched off. The winner later chose to receive the prize in a lifetime of $52,000 annuities. Taxes will reduce that to about $34,414. She says the win will help her secure better futures for her children.
