Malcom and Claire Sills and their friends Martin and Claire Tait, all from Stockton had wanted to use £40 they won on a scratchcard, while they were on a night out, towards dinner. Why not quit while you’re ahead, right? Wrong.
It is a good thing that Martin convinced the rest to buy extra EuroMillions tickets for the Tuesday draw. Martin was already working on an offshore rig in Nigeria when they learned that one of the extra tickets they bought won for them a cool £1 million.
