Nothing, it seems, can keep Ron Elliot from his job caring for vulnerable elderly people – not even a huge lottery win.

He had bought a Lucky Dip ticket at a news agent’s on the way to work Saturday.  The numbers on his ticket matched the numbers 10, 28, 32, 36, 37 and 49 drawn that night, earning for him a £7,959,312 jackpot.

After such a substantial win, which would guarantee a comfortable retirement for any 67 year old, most people would think of leaving their jobs, especially one which only pays £15,000 a year.  But Ron went back to work immediately after winning the jackpot, and has no plans of leaving his job anytime soon.

It is not about the money, but because Ron cannot bear to leave the 90 year old residents who depend on him.

With his new found fortune, he wants to buy a house, help his son pay off a loan and organize a Christmas party for the residents of the care home.
