A couple from Christchurch in New Zealand have just won $4,667,251 on the NZ Lotto.

The win has been especially welcome as their home was damaged badly by the earthquake on 22nd February, and they have had to live in temporary accommodation ever since.

But despite the win, they still plan to stay in the city they love.

This win will help us to rebuild our lives in Christchurch. We have no desire to leave the city, but we will be able to afford a few trips overseas now in order to get away.

The couple regularly play the ‘Big Wednesday’ lottery game, but rarely check the result until the next day. The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, used the ticket scanner whilst grocery shopping at his local supermarket.

He was amazed to see the machine flash up a message saying ‘Division One winner’. He immediately headed off to find his wife in the aisles somewhere to let her know the fantastic news.

The man now plans to retire from his regular job, and never have to worry again about those early starts in the morning.

Big Wednesday’s winning numbers for 13th July 2011 were 12, 18, 21, 22, 25, 33 and Tails. The winning ticket was bought at the Pak N’ Save supermarket in Moorhouse.
