After winning a million dollar second prize on the May 4 Powerball draw, Darwin Morales must have a million more reasons to call New York a “magic place.”
The 25-year old Guatemala native, who works as a gas attendant in Bedford, moved here only seven years ago to be with family. And there are people he credits with helping him win, like the co-worker who reminded him of the size of the jackpot, and the customer who gave him a $20 tip; he later spent $14 on 7 Quick Pick combinations, and the third combination won. He bought his tickets from the gas station where he works.
