Audelia Ramirez from Alhambra, California just won $9 Million on the California SuperLotto Plus.

And and 73 year old grandmother she was quick to thank her 6 children and 8 grandchildren for the big win. Because she had partly used the birth dates of the children to help her pick the winning numbers.

Audelia said she planned to buy herself a new house, having lived for many years in a small apartment building. And of course the children and grandchildren would be well looked after.

Her winning ticket was bought from Superior Super Warehouse in Pico Rivera. But there was actually a second winner who gets the other half of the $18 Million jackpot. That ticket was bought at Junior Liquor in San Diego but so far has not been claimed.

The winning California SuperLotto Plus numbers for 31st August 2011 were: 2, 22, 27, 31 and 32. The Mega Ball was 11.

Tip: If you use birth dates to help choose your lottery numbers, make sure you don’t use too many. You could end up sharing with a lot of other jackpot winners if you do. Audelia was lucky to only be sharing with 1 other winner.
