The cost of bets for the National Lottery will increase from £1 to £2 per line beginning October this year. To soften the opposition to the doubling of prices, the National Lottery has announced that it will have two special Saturday draws on Oct. 5 and Oct 12, which will feature £10 million jackpots. In addition there will be 1000 guaranteed £20,000 prizes on the same two Saturdays.
The price increase will also result in changes in the payouts for minor prizes. A three number match now pays £25, four number matches pay £100, a five number match pays £1000, and five numbers and the bonus number nets £50,000.
Tickets for the October draws go on sale October 3.
